Editing a rule

You can edit existing rules to help organize your incoming emails.

To edit a rule

  1. Click Settings
  2. Select Mail
  3. Select Rules.
  4. Select a rule from the list and click Edit The Message Filters dialog opens.
  5. In the message filters.

Step One

Choose which emails to apply the edited rule to.

  1. Enter the name of the rule in the Rule name text box.
  2. Select the Active check box if you want the rule to be made active as soon as you have completed adding it.
  3. You can choose to apply one or more of the following when deciding which emails to apply the new rule to:

    If Subject
  1. Select contains from the list to apply the rule to a specific subject title.
  2. or

  3. Select does not contain to apply the rule to all emails except those with a specific subject title.
  4. Enter the specific subject title for this rule in the subject text box.
    If From
  1. Select contains from the list to apply the rule to a specific sender.
  2. or

  3. Select does not contain to apply the rule to all emails except those with a specific sender.
  4. Enter the specific sender name for this rule in the from text box.
  5. Click Add to add the sender name to the rule.
  6. Note: To remove an existing IfFrom entry click Delete next to the entry

    If To
  1. Select contains from the list to apply the rule to a specific recipient in the to field.
  2. or

  3. Select does not contain to apply the rule to all emails except those with a specific recipient in the to field..
  4. Enter the specific recipient name for this rule in the to text box.
  5. Click Add to add the recipient name to the rule.
  6. Note: To remove an existing If To entry click Delete next to the entry

    If CC
  1. Select contains from the list to apply the rule to a specific recipient in the cc field.
  2. or

  3. Select does not contain to apply the rule to all emails except those with a specific recipient in the cc field.
  4. Enter the specific recipient name for this rule in the cc text box.
  5. Click Add to add the recipient name to the rule.
  6. Note: To remove an existing If CC entry click Delete next to the entry

    If To or CC
  1. Select contains from the list to apply the rule to a specific recipient in either the to or cc field.
  2. or

  3. Select does not contain to apply the rule to all emails except those with a specific recipient.
  4. Enter the specific recipient name for this rule in the text box.
  5. Click Add to add the recipient name to the rule.
  6. Note: To remove an existing If To or CC entry click Delete next to the entry

Step two

Step two is to decide on what to do with the email.

  1. Select the action from the list. The options that are available are:
  2. Note: You can only choose one of the options:

    MoveToFolder : To move the selected email to a folder automatically. Choose the folder to move the email to from the list displayed.

    ForwardToEmail: To forward the selected email to another email address automatically. Enter the email address to forward this email to.

    Delete Permanently:To have the email deleted permanently.

    Important: The email will not appear in the trash folder so cannot be retrieved.

  3. Click Save to update the rule with the new settings.
  4. or

  5. Click Cancel to undo any changes since your last save.
